Although putting together a solid win at Westoba Place just 24 hours prior, Brandon had trouble reciprocating that feeling of victory Wednesday, finding themselves down 4-0 after 20 minutes of play.
Battling back with three second period goals – to the Hurricanes’ one – the Wheat Kings trailed the visitors 5-3 after two periods of play. Brandon could only find the twine once in the third period, while Lethbridge pumped another two pucks past goaltender Dylan Myskiw in the final 20 minutes, handing the Albertans the victory, and a 3-1 series lead.
The Wheat Kings saw goals from four different goal scorers, as regular contributors Stelio Mattheos, Ty Lewis, Marcus Sekundiak and Luka Burzan each collected goals in Wednesday’s loss.
Myskiw had a night to forget, as nearly everything went past him. The Winnipeg product did however manage to stop 20 of 27 pucks fired his way.
Brandon will look to draw back into this best-of-seven matchup on the road, as the series shifts back to Lethbridge for Game Five on Friday. If the Wheaties manage to pick up the victory on the road, Game Six will go from Brandon Sunday afternoon. Puckdrop at the Enmax Centre is scheduled for 8:00 P.M. central time Friday.
