The team bus was involved in a major accident en route to a playoff game in Saskatchewan Friday evening. 14 occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene, while the remaining 14 others were transported to hospital – three of which in critical condition.

The lone Manitoban on the team, Matthieu Gomercic – a former Winnipeg Minor hockey player with the St. Vital Vics and Steinbach Pistons alumni – has survived the wreck.

The Humboldt Broncos are a part of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) and had a record of 33-19-3-3 on the 2017-18 season. Sheldon Brookbank highlights a list of six Broncos alumni who went on the play in the NHL.
