Winnipeg Native Troy Martyniuk Commits To Carleton University

Martyniuk – a native of Winnipeg – arrived to the Flyers part way through the 2016-17 season and helped lead Winkler to the semifinals in back-to-back seasons.

In the 2016-17 season, the 20-year-old put up an incredible 1.69 goals against average and a near unbeatable .940 save percentage. Martyniuk’s numbers slightly dropped this past season, registering a 2.77 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.

Over the past two years, the 5-foot-10 netminder has compiled a 39-20-2 record in 61 starts. He led the Manitoba Junior Hockey League in wins (28) in the 2017-18 season. Martyniuk also collected the MJHL’s Top Goaltender Award, was selected as the Flyers’ season MVP, made the MJHL second all-star team, and was the finalist for both the MJHL’s MVP Award and the CJHL’s Top Goaltender Award.

Martyniuk is expected to compete for the starter’s job in Carleton for the upcoming season.

The MJHL will host its annual draft on June 3rd at 9:00 A.M. from Winnipeg, MB.
