Thompson spent the past three seasons serving as the last line of defence in Brandon for the Wheat Kings. The now 21-year-old Calgary, AB. product honed his craft in the Alberta Junior Hockey League before transitioning over the WHL play. 

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound goalie put up a 63-41-4 record with the Wheaties from the 2014-15 season until his final junior hockey season in 2017-18. Thompson was counted upon more and more as his career progressed, playing in just four games in 2014-15, 23 in 2015-16, 40 in 2016-17 and then ultimately ending his career in playing 55 of his team’s 72 contests. 

Thompson finished off his overage WHL season with 29 victories, three shutouts, a .908 save percentage and a 3.41 goals against average. He was also voted in as a WHL Second Team All-Star. 

The Calgary native will move to St. Catharines and join the Brock University Badgers in the 2018-19 season, battling alongside Surrey’s Mario Cavaliere in the crease. Brock finished the 2017-18 season with a 14-9-5 record in the West Division of the Ontario University Athletics Association.
