A new arena complex will be the future hub for The Rink Player Development, GDI Goaltender Development, Testify Performance and the Rink Hockey Academy (RHA) of the Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL). The Rink Training Centre, founded by Brad Rice, Tyler Rice, Tina Jones and Mike Keane in 2009, is a specialized science-based hockey training centre in Manitoba offering training programs and education partnerships.
The new 95,000 square foot facility will include three ice surfaces, an off-ice training centre and a retail space. The new building will have a regulation NHL sized rink, with viewing for 700 spectators, a training rink and a goalie specific ice sheet. It will also have a 7,000 square foot gym and a three-lane, 200-meter indoor running track for off-ice and performance training. It will also provide new office space for 60 staff, a lecture room, seminar room and a research hub. The new facility will position The Rink Training Centre as one of the only fully integrated hockey training centres in Western Canada.

“We are excited to turn our vision into reality,” says Brad Rice, managing partner of The Rink. “Our customers have shown us there is a real need for continual development programs, and we are putting all our knowledge and experience into this new facility, based here in Manitoba.”
The Rink began training young hockey players in 2009, with specialized skills training for goaltenders and players. In 2016, The Rink started the RHA program in alliance with Pembina Trails School Division and Shaftesbury High School. “We pride ourselves on our proven training philosophy on the ice and off the ice, and it is our priority to help maximize the development of each athlete that joins our family,” says Ryan Cyr, General Manager of The Rink.
The Rink has awarded construction and design contracts to Manitoba firms Ernst Hansch Construction Group and BLDG Architecture Office Inc. The privately funded $20 million project began construction in November 2017 is scheduled to open in Spring 2019. “This will be a 100% Manitoba project,” says Tina Jones, one of the co-founders of the Rink. “The Rink has built a strong reputation as a Manitoba company. The new facility will be built by Manitobans and will grow as a draw for Manitoba. We’re extremely proud of our growth and this permanent home is a long-time dream of ours. Being able to provide the most innovative and professionally run programs, for all ages, is an accomplishment not seen in Canada before now.”
