Gilmore has put together 19 goals and 47 points in 52 career games for the Red River Mudbugs of the HTJHL. The Mudbugs went 19-5-1 in 25 regular season games en route to the ‘Junior C’ league championship last season. Gilmore – a Morris, MB. native – collected two goals and six points in a four-game sweep of St. Adolphe in the league finals this past spring.
Now joining Essa of the CPJHL, Gilmore will have a chance to broaden his hockey horizons on yet another championship-winning team, as the Stallions went 42-2 en route to raising the Presidents’ Trophy with a ridiculous +178 goal differential in 2017-18.
“I think we’ve got a good one here in Gilmore,” reflected Essa Stallions General Manager David Lang. “With what we currently have in our club, this certainly makes us much deeper, and much harder to play against. We love kids like Austin, and can’t wait to get him in the black and grey. Guys have to come in here in good shape, good attitude, and good mentality to be successful. We don’t appreciate individuals. We’re here to do everything as a team, win or lose. They dictate what happens by working hard, and earning the opportunities given. All we ask is to come to play hard, and work harder.”
Gilmore collected 13 goals, 28 points and 33 penalty minutes in 24 games for Red River this past season.
