On Thursday it was announced that Sharman would be the lone Bison in attendance on the U Sports All-Star team at Calgary’s Canada Olympic Park in early August. The Showcase will run from August 2nd to 11th, with the U Sports All-Stars facing off twice against the Japanese national women’s team and another two times against the Canadian National Women’s Development Team.
The 2018 U Sports All-Stars will once again be coached by Stacey Colarossi – Head Coach of the Laurentian Voyageurs. Colarossi led the 2017 All-Stars to a 2-2 finish at last year’s showcase.
This is the third year that the U-Sports team will attend the Summer Showcase. The 2018 roster features a lineup heavily laced with players from Canada’s East. Six women will be returning to the squad from previous years – including Sharman who dressed for the U Sports All-Stars in 2016.
The 5-foot-8, fifth year forward is thrilled to once again be representing the Bisons in an environment in which she can both enjoy and take some mental/physical notes.
“I’m super excited to be heading out to Calgary,” she said. “I’m looking forward to playing with and against some of the top Canadian athletes. Hopefully it’ll be an opportunity to learn and have some fun as well.”
Sharman collected a whopping 17 assists and 20 points in 28 games for the Bisons the 2017-18 season. The Winnipeg native also scored a very memorable shootout goal in Manitoba’s semi-final victory over Concordia at the U Sports Championship.
