The 25-year-old held his fourth annual KidSport Golf Classic on Monday June 25th at Niakwa Country Club. The funds raised from the annual golf tournament go directly to KidSport Winnipeg, which has now allowed nearly 1,000 local children to participate in sport by covering registration fees for families with financial barriers.
Prior to his golf tournament, Scheifele hosted his fourth annual Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp from Bell MTS IcePlex on June 23rd and 24th. The two-day camp featured on-ice instruction and training for 224 boys and girls, players and goaltenders, aged 5-12 from members of the Winnipeg Jets, Manitoba Moose and surviving members of the Humboldt Broncos, including Matthieu Gomercic, the only Manitoban on the Broncos.
“I had another fantastic weekend on the ice with the kids and with the players at the golf tournament,” Scheifele said in a press release. “There is such a great team who worked on raising the incredible amount of money for kids; from all the guys who gave their time helping out, to all the KidSport volunteers…It really makes me so proud and humbled to be a part of such a generous and giving community.”
The golf tournament – in cooperation with the hockey camp – raised $210,000.00 in 2018, bringing Scheifele’s contributions for KidSport Winnipeg up to $620,000.00 over a span of four years.
