Earlier this week it was announced that St. Mary’s Academy student Kate Gregoire has agreed to commit to the U of M for the 2019-20 hockey season. Gregoire, 17, is entering her final year of studies at St. Mary’s and continuing to play hockey for the Flames Prep Team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.
The 5-foot-3, 110-pound forward spent the past two seasons with the Flames, compiling 26 goals, 78 points and 42 penalty minutes in 104 games. In her grade 11 year, Gregoire produced at over a point-per-game, scoring 19 goals and 49 points in 47 games.
Growing up in southern Manitoba, Gregoire played boys hockey for most of her childhood, just recently transitioning to female hockey. While playing for the AAA Eastman Selects in 2015-16, the speedy forward led the league in points and finished the year as the most valuable player. Gregoire is also a Manitoba Games bronze medalist in golf (2016).
