The decision was made to move venues for the upcoming season after Notre Dame’s ice plant broke down early last week. St. Boniface took the appropriate steps to find a new home, and the IcePlex’s facility and amenities came out on top.
The Riels finished the 2017-18 regular season in eighth place, going 19-22-4, while being outscored 163-146 in their 45 season games. A change of scenery may be a good move for St. Boniface, as the 2017-18 squad was only 8-12-2 at Notre Dame arena, as opposed to 11-10-2 on the road.
St. Boniface will look to improve its record at its new home of BellMTS IcePlex beginning in early October, with the first home date of the 2018-19 season schedule landing on October 7th. The Riels begin the year on the road with two contests against the Hawks and Raiders.
After finishing the 2017-18 season with the best record at 37-3-5, the Raiders Jr. Hockey Club swept St. Boniface in three-straight games, before going on to capture the MMJHL championship in five.
