After once again finding himself sitting comfortably in the Jets’ press box to begin the season, Dano requested that Winnipeg either trades him or places him on Waivers for the hope of gaining a fresh start in a new city. Dano’s request was answered as the Jets placed him on Waivers Sunday.
On Monday morning it was announced that Central Division rival Colorado Avalanche had claimed the rights to Dano, making the 23-year-old the newest member of the Avs. Over the past four seasons in Winnipeg, Dano has been in the Jets’ lineup 21, 38, 23 and 0 times respectively. In those 82 games, he has 10 goals and 22 points.
Some may remember Dano with the Columbus Blue Jackets or Chicago Blackhawks. He was a large piece of the return in Winnipeg’s Andrew Ladd deal back in the 2015-16 NHL season. After getting himself in top shape over this past summer, Dano is hoping to bounce back mightily in Colorado as the 2018-19 hockey season continues. He has 19 goals and 45 points in 130 career NHL games.
