The Winnipeg Blues have started the 2018-19 Manitoba Junior Hockey League season with a bang, thanks in large part to netminder Jeremy Link.

Link Named MJHL Player of the Week

On Monday it was announced that Link has been awarded with the MJHL’s Player of the Week distinction for the week of October 8th to 14th. During that time period, the 20-year-old goaltender put up a 3-0-0 record, including a 3-0 shutout victory over the third place Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

Link allowed just two goals in a 5-2 victory over the Neepawa Natives, before shutting the door on the Wolverines, and then just giving up another two against Dauphin in a 4-2 win over the Kings. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound goalie produced a 1.33 goals against average and a .956 save percentage over those three contests.

Link has improved his record on the season to 6-2-0, and has helped the Blues to coming within one point of the Wolverines for third place overall. Winnipeg is back in action with two home contests Thursday and Saturday evenings at Bell MTS Iceplex as they host the Virden Oil Capitals and the Swan Valley Stampeders before heading to Winkler for a date with the Flyers on Sunday.

17-year old forward Kolton Shindle of the Portage Terriers and 20-year-old netminder Isaac Labelle of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines were the two runners up for this past week’s award. It is Link’s first Player of the Week award of the 2018-19 season.
