Winnipeg Jets’ forward Mark Scheifele has been named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week following a four-goal, seven-point week.

Scheifele Named NHL’s Second Star of the Week

Scheifele and the Jets played in four games during the week ending Sunday, October 28th. Beginning things off with a 5-4 overtime victory at home against St. Louis, the 25-year-old centreman picked up a career-high matching two goals and two assists, as he helped lead Winnipeg back from behind in the 5-4 victory Monday evening from Bell MTS Place.

The 6-foot-3, 207-pound forward then collected a one-time power play goal against the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday, before picking up an assist on Friday on the road in Detroit, and again scoring in Toronto on Saturday on a breakaway. The Jets’ current goal and point-scoring leader now has six goals and 12 points in 12 games played, keeping him perfectly on pace with last season’s even one-point-per-game rate.

Scheifele’s current five-game point scoring streak features four goals and four assists, dating back to last Saturday’s 5-3 home victory over the visiting Arizona Coyotes. Scheifele and his Winnipeg teammates will see their next game action on the ice in Helsinki on Thursday and Friday afternoons, as the Jets and Florida Panthers do battle in back-to-back games in the 2018 NHL Global Series in Finland. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. both days.
