The 19-year-old netminder went a perfect 3-0-0 in the Blizzard’s three games this past week. With all three contests coming at home, Giesbrecht picked up 3-2 and 5-2 victories over Neepawa on Friday and Saturday, before collecting a 4-2 win over the visiting Winnipeg Blues on Sunday.
Over his three-game winning streak, the Comox, BC. native put up a 1.67 goals against average and a .959 save percentage. Giesbrecht currently sits first in the league in goaltender save percentage (.936) and fourth in goals against average (2.76). He has dressed in 12 games but has yet to record a shutout in 631 minutes of action.
Giesbrecht, who was acquired by the Blizzard in early October, spent the last three years playing in British Columbia for the Langley Knights, Abbotsford Pilots, Creston Valley Thunder Cats and the Comox Valley Glacier Kings. Following Giesbrecht’s weekend of success, he and the OCN Blizzard get back to work Wednesday and Friday, with road contests against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines and Winnipeg Blues, respectively.
