MJHL Names Kolten Kanaski Player of the Week

Kanaski, 19, stepped up his already highly offensive game and delivered a nine-point week in just four league games. He contributed a goal and an assist against Steinbach on Thursday, a goal and two assists against the Blizzard on Saturday, two more assists against the Blizzard again on Sunday and another two points in OCN on Tuesday.

The 5-foot-10, 187-pound forward has only been held without a point in three contests this season, putting together a 14-goal, 27-point, 58-penalty minute stat line in 20 games. Kanaski has also put together nine multi-point efforts, including his last six-straight games.

The Beausejour native’s contributions have helped his Virden Oil Capitals to a 10-9-5 record. The Oil Caps are currently on a six-game winning streak, and will look to pick things back up on Wednesday as Kanaski and Co. travel to Swan Valley for a 7:30 P.M. showdown with the Stampeders.
