On Saturday evening, Winnipeg Jets’ winger Patrik Laine became just the fourth player since 1997 to record five goals in an NHL game.

Laine’s Five-Goal Night by the Numbers

Laine’s historic night was the highlight of a 8-4 road victory by the Jets in St. Louis. The following is a list of the deeper statistics on Laine’s Saturday night performance:

  • Became just the 14th player in NHL history to score three-plus hat tricks through the first 22 games of a season.
  • Took over NHL goal scoring lead.
  • Second all-time with seven hat tricks before age 21 (Gretzky 12).
  • First player with three hat tricks in a month since Alex Kovalev in February 2001.
  • 11 goals since Monday evening.
  • 15 goals in the Month of November.
  • Two hat tricks in a week.
  • Has 99 career goals – only six players (Gretzky, Carson, Hawerchuk, Stamkos, Kovalchuk, Bellows) have recorded 100 career markers before the age of 21.
  • Five goals would be tied for second on Kings’ goal-scoring list.
  • Five goals on five shots – perfect shooting percentage.
  • First 20 year old to score five goals in a game since Gretzky (twice in 1981).
  • Six career hat tricks – sixth all time on Jets’ hat trick list (Jets 1.0 and 2.0).
  • First five-goal game since Franzen scored five in 2011.
  • Christopher Haley was awarded $1 million dollars through Safeway’s Score to Win challenge  (50K a year for 20 years).
