In four games for the Jets this past week, Scheifele put up five goals, 11 points and was a factored in on all three of Winnipeg’s overtime winners. The Jets went a perfect 4-0 in those games, while the 25-year-old centreman has now maintained a five-game point streak dating back to December 9th.
As a matter of fact, Scheifele has three points in four of his past five games, as he picked up just two markers on December 11th against Chicago. The former Barrie Colt is fifth in the NHL with 21 goals and 46 points on the season, while tying the Jets’franchise record with five overtime points in one season.
With three appearances in the NHL’s Stars of the Week this season (previously first and second star), Scheifele has upped the Jets’ numbers to five times on the season, as both Patrik Laine and Blake Wheeler have also been selected through 11 weeks of the NHL’s calendar.
Scheifele and Co. will resume their work late Tuesday evening, as the Jets begin a western road trip with stops in Los Angeles, San Jose and Vancouver, before returning home for their Christmas break. Puck drop between the Jets and their Californian rivals are slated for 9:30 P.M. central time on Tuesday and Thursday. Both games can be viewed on TSN3.
