Mason Appleton has had himself one heck of a career as a member of the Manitoba Moose thus far.

Appleton Selected for Second All-Star Game

After being selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Appleton played two seasons with Michigan State University before heading north to Manitoba, where he has since dressed in 95 American Hockey League contests for the Manitoba Moose since the start of the 2017-18 hockey season.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward played in all 76 games for Manitoba last season, putting up 22 goals and 66 points, good enough for the team lead, as a rookie nonetheless. The accolades did not stop there, as Appleton was named to the 2018 AHL All-Rookie Team, the 2018 AHL All-Star Game and was named the 2018 AHL Rookie of the Year.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Appleton had once again earned his way into the AHL’s All-Star Game in 2019. The 22-year-old currently has eight goals and 18 points in just 19 contests this season. Appleton has spent the last 14 games with the Winnipeg Jets after earning a call-up in late November. He last dressed for the Moose on November 24th.

The AHL All-Star Weekend will be held on January 27th and 28th. If Appleton is still with the Jets in the NHL, the Moose will have to send a different representative to take his place. Both the Moose and Jets are back in action on Friday, as Manitoba opens up a two-game series in Texas against the Stars, while Winnipeg will do battle with Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins in Pennsylvania Friday night.
