The Manitoba Moose have added a potential scoring threat to their roster, signing forward Chris Collins to a professional tryout.

Moose Sign ECHL Point Leader Collins

Collins, 26, has been playing with the East Coast Hockey League’s Kalamazoo Wings, where he’s put up a league-best 19 goals and 48 points in just 37 games. The 2018-19 season is the former undrafted U-Sports athlete’s first as a professional hockey player.

Prior to signing in the ECHL, Collins played for the University of Calgary, where he amassed 57 goals and 131 points in 140 games, including a 19-goal, 36-point rookie season in 2013-14. Collins has also spent time with Saskatoon of the Western Hockey League before finishing his junior hockey in the AJHL.

The Moose also announced two other roster moves Friday, as the team recalled defenceman Jacob Cederholm from Jacksonville of the ECHL, as well as signed Dajon Mingo to another professional tryout.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound centreman will look to crack Manitoba’s lineup on Saturday and Sunday as the San Antonio Rampage roll into town for two afternoon matinee contests at Bell MTS Place. Puck drop is set for 2:00 P.M. central for both games. Tickets are still available for purchase online or at the Moose box office.
