Amongst three others, Manitoba’s Logan Shaw has been added to the All-Star Weekend lineup, replacing teammate Mason Appleton, who was previously selected but is unable to attend due to his current commitment with the Winnipeg Jets.
Shaw, 26, will see his first All-Star Weekend after putting up 16 goals and 27 points through 33 games with the Moose this season. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound forward leads Manitoba in goals, points, power play goals and points-per-game. Shaw has 45 goals and 80 points in 182 career AHL games, while putting up 12 goals and 31 points in 180 games spent between the Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks and Montreal Canadiens.
Appleton, 23, had eight goals and 18 points in 19 games for the Moose this season, before injuries to the Jets forced his call-up. He was recalled in late November and has dressed in 21 games for Winnipeg, putting up two goals and four points, while remaining a plus player at +4.
The AHL Skills Competition will be held on January 27th, where Shaw will be selected to compete in one or two of seven different events, before playing in the All-Star Game on the 28th. Much like the NHL has done in past years, the game will be played in a tournament style with four different three-on-three teams battling in a round robin. Both events will begin at 6:00 P.M. central time.
