Following a stretch in which the team picked up wins in six of seven games, the Moose have now dropped three-straight contests, to begin a six-game road trip. After stops in Rockford and Milwaukee, Manitoba will play the same Admirals next Friday evening, before taking on Chicago the following day and Grand Rapids on Wednesday.
Friday evening’s game against Rockford was certainly entertaining, as it went the distance, and then some, with Manitoba ultimately losing in a shootout 4-3. After scoring the game’s opening goal, and putting up another two in the second period, the Moose collapsed late, allowing the IceHogs to tie it up at threes in the third period. Rockford scored on both their shootout attempts, while Manitoba failed to score.
Saturday’s game was much more lopsided than Friday’s. The afternoon contest saw an eventful second period, as Milwaukee put up four goals in the frame, adding to their first period marker. Entering the third up 5-1, the Admirals allowed Manitoba to strike early, but found another three goals in the period. The game finished as an 8-2 loss for the Moose, with the home team picking up four power play goals.
Marko Dano, Sami NIku and Michael Spacek scored for the Moose on Friday, while Chris Collins and Logan Shaw picked up goals on Saturday afternoon. Eric Comrie made 31 saves on 34 shots Friday night, while Ken Appleby turned aside just 23 of 31 pucks in a losing effort on Saturday.
