18-year-old defenceman Cole DeKoninck of the Dauphin Kings has been named the recipient. The big, bruising defenceman potted three goals and tacked on another three assists in just three contests for Dauphin, bringing his season totals to 11 goals and 32 points in 41 games played.
After failing to register a point against the Portage Terriers on Wednesday, DeKoninck put up back-to-back three-point performances on the weekend. He first scored two goals and added an assist on Friday against the Winkler Flyers, before scoring yet again, while adding two helpers against the Blizzard the following day.
The former Eastman Select who accrued 259 penalty minutes over his time playing AAA, has had a wonderful start to his career in the MJHL. The 2000-born blueliner out of Lorette sits seventh in league scoring by defencemen, and his .78 points-per-game are third best amongst defenders.
