On Friday the Colorado Avalanche announced the signing of the Portage la Prairie native to a standard three-year, entry-level contract. The deal will carry a $793K annual average value for the next three seasons. The former 2017 fourth round selection of the Avalanche has played in both the Western Hockey League’s finals, as well as the final of the CHL’s Memorial Cup.

Following Midget AAA, Henry, 19, spent spent the 2015-16 season with the Portage Terriers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, before lacing up for the past three years in Regina, and now most recently with Lethbridge of the WHL. He currently has 25 goals and 85 points in 63 league games this season.

In 188 career WHL games, the 5-foot-11, 195-pound forward has 74 goals, 195 points and 147 penalty minutes. He will join Colin Wilson (Winnipeg), Matt Calvert (Brandon), Ty Lewis (Brandon) and Scott Kosmachuk (Winnipeg Jets/Manitoba Moose 2015-17) in the Avalanche organization – making Colorado the second-most populated NHL team of Manitobans (Vegas Golden Knights).
