Bettens beat out Virden’s Kolton Kanaski and Portage’s Ethan Peterson with his two-game, six-point performance for the Steinbach Pistons. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound centreman began the MJHL postseason with a two-assist performance on Friday, and then doubled his output on Sunday with a goal and three assists in game two. Bettens added another assist on Tuesday, bringing his points total up to seven.
After spending time with the United States Hockey League’s Fargo Force in the beginning of the 2018-19 season, Bettens went back to Steinbach and dressed in 40 regular season games for the Pistons, picking up 10 goals and 29 points in the process. He now leads the league with one goal and seven points in just four playoff games.
Currently up three-games-to-one on the Winnipeg Blues in the first round of the MJHL playoffs, Bettens and the Steinbach Pistons will look to resume their winning ways in Saturday evening’s game five matchup at 7:30 PM central at home.
