At the time of his elimination from the playoffs by the San Jose Sharks, Stone was leading the league in both postseason goals (6) and points (12). Since that point, the Sharks’ Logan Couture has caught up to the 6-foot-4, 220-pound winger. Stone still remains atop the leaderboards with 12 points, but Couture’s nine goals are a league-best.
Prior to being shipped to Vegas for a king’s ransom, Stone put up 28 goals and 62 points in 59 regular season games in the first half of the 2018-19 season. With the Golden Knights, he amassed five goals and 11 points in 18 contests, before his seven-game playoff outburst. Recently signing an eight-year, $76 million deal with Vegas, Stone is locked in with the Knights through the 2026-27 season.
The 2019 World Championship will take place from May 10th to 26th in Bratislava and Kosice, Slovakia. Manitobans Ron Hextall and Jason Botterill helped with the selections, helping assemble a team hoping to take home the tournament’s top prize for the first time since winning back-to-back World Championships in 2015 and 2016. Canada will play a pre-tournament game against Austria on May 7th, before opening round robin play on May 10th against Finland.
