On Thursday morning, the National Hockey League released its 2019-20 preseason schedule.

Winnipeg Jets Release 2019-20 Preseason Schedule

The Winnipeg Jets will once again play seven times prior to opening puck drop on the regular season, with four preseason contests coming at home at Bell MTS Place, while three games will be played on the road. Typical exhibition competitors will include the Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild and Calgary Flames. However, the highlight will be a home matchup against the recent Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues.

Although serving as a fellow Central Division competitor, the Blues have never faced off against the Jets in an NHL preseason game. Minnesota – another member of the NHL’s Central Division, and Winnipeg’s closest geographical rival – can be counted on for a minimum of two exhibition contests annually. Despite belonging to the Western Conference’s Pacific Division, the Flames and Oilers have also commonly been used as competitors in the Jets’ preseason of late.

Starting on the road in Edmonton on Monday, September 16th, Winnipeg will then travel back home for three-straight contests at Bell MTS Place against the Wild, Blues and Flames. The Jets then travel to Calgary for the second game of a home-and-home with the Flames, before coming back to Manitoba to host the Oilers in the second preseason showdown between the two teams. The Jets conclude their September schedule on Sunday the 29th in Minnesota.

The Jets went 4-3-0 with two overtime victories in the 2018-19 preseason, after going 2-3-2 and 4-3-0 in the prior two seasons. Although the games do not mean anything in terms of standings/placement, they are opportunities for young players to prove their skills to the coaching and management staff of the Jets.
