Beginning in October, the travelling festival of music, alumni and hockey-themed activities will commence its 25-stop tour across Canada. The sixth season of Hometown Hockey will begin in Halton Hills, ON., for a matchup featuring the Winnipeg Jets and New York Islanders, before making its way across the nation for weekly Sunday night Sportsnet broadcasts.

The 25 showings will be broken down as follows: nine dates in Ontario, five in British Columbia, four in Alberta, three in the Maritimes, two in each of Quebec and Manitoba. Saskatchewan and the Territories are not represented.

The two-day events feature live broadcasts of the Sunday evening game on CBC/Sportsnet, including a pregame, intermission and postgame show, and a viewing party hosted by Red Deer, Alberta’s Ron MacLean and Halifax, Nova Scotia’s Tara Slone live on national television.

Hometown Hockey will stop in Dauphin from November 16-17, before landing in Peguis First Nation – Manitoba’s largest First Nation community – on February 28-March 1.

The Winnipeg Jets will be featured seven times during Hometown Hockey, including the first Sunday of the season schedule (October 6) three-straight weeks from October 6-21, as well as back-to-back weeks in late-March.

Feature stories showcasing the culture and hockey heritage of both Dauphin and Peguis First Nation will be put fully on display throughout the November and March Sunday national broadcasts.
