The 18-year-old Lorette product was sent to Saskatchewan early this past week in exchange for a conditional eighth round draft pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft. Belluk was selected by the Silvertips in the 10th round of the 2016 draft, and has suited up twice for Everett in regular season play.
“We are happy to add Danton to our group,” said Regina Pats GM John Paddock in a team-issued press release. “He has had a strong midget career and we look forward to him joining our team for this season.”
Belluk played his minor hockey with the Eastman Selects, dressing in 86 regular season games between the AAA bantam and midget programs over the past four years. In 2018-19, the 6-foot-1, 165-pound backstop put up a .922 save percentage and a 2.90 goals against average in 27 MMHL games.
After signing his WHL standard player agreement in August of 2017, Belluk put together two stellar seasons of midget AAA play, earning recognition as a MMHL Second Team All-Star in 2018-19. The Pats will begin the 2019-20 WHL regular season on Friday at home against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
