With the home team providing a 7-2 thrashing of the Saskatoon Blades in a 75-shot affair, fans gathered at the University of Manitoba’s Wayne Fleming Arena Sunday evening were blessed with a real spectacle of a game. Just one day after opening the back-to-back series with the Blades with a 4-1 win, Winnipeg put up another seven goals, en-route to a five-goal victory.
Brad Ginnell had two goals and an assist, Jackson Leppard had a goal and an assist, while Chase Hartje and Reese Harsch each had multi-assist games for the ICE. Winnipeg netminder Jesse Makaj stopped 28 of 30 pucks shot his way, while Saskatoon’s Koen MacInnes only managed 38 stops on 45 ICE shots.
The game was Winnipeg’s first Sunday Funday of the 2019-20 season, an opportunity in which the local community can engage with the Winnipeg ICE in a more personal, hands-on game experience. Sunday Fundays will occur at each and every Sunday home game this season, including:
- Sunday, October 20 vs. Saskatoon Blades at 7:30 P.M.
- Sunday, January 5 vs. Prince Albert Raiders at 7:30 P.M.
