The Manitoba Junior Hockey League has named its Three Stars of the Week for the week ending November 17.
Kyle Bettens (Steinbach Pistons, Winnipeg), Braden Fischer (Winnipeg Blues, Winnipeg) and Jaymes Knee (Waywayseecappo Wolverines, Brandon) highlight the pack, after combining for eight goals, 14 assists and 22 points in just 11 total games played. All three players are in the top-15 in league scoring, with just three points separating the offensive players.
In four games, Bettens, 18, collected four goals and eight points, despite being held without a point on one occasion. After putting up a goal and an assist on Monday, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward added two goals and four points on Saturday, before scoring once and adding another assist the following day. He has points in 15 of his last 17 games.
Fischer, 18, had himself a monster of a performance on Friday, picking up two goals and five points in the Blues’ 9-5 victory over the Neepawa Natives. The undersized forward followed that up with a two-point effort against the Dauphin Kings on Sunday. His nine goals and 24 points place Fischer second on the Blues in team scoring.
Knee, also 18, currently has nine goals and 24 points in 21 games with the Wolverines, working at over a point-per-game rate. His last four games saw Knee pick up a goal and six assists for seven points, including two multi-point efforts. The Brandon product has only gone pointless in four games during the 2019-20 MJHL season.
