The Brandon Wheat Kings will host the Winnipeg ICE Friday evening in the annual toy drive game from Westoba Place at Keystone Centre 7:30 PM central in Brandon.
The game will be the first of a home-and-home series with the ICE, with the second contest going Saturday evening at 7:30 PM at the Wayne Fleming Arena in Winnipeg.
The toy drive is in support of the Westman and Surrounding Area Traditional Dinner, as well as Samaritan House. Fans in attendance Friday night are encouraged to bring new and unwrapped toys for those in less fortunate local situations. Financial donations will also be accepted in the form of cash or cheques at the door upon entrance.
All fans who participate in the toy drive will have their name entered into two contests/draws, in which one lucky winner will receive an autographed Wheat Kings sweater, while the other will receive a trip for two to the 2020 Memorial Cup in Kelowna, B.C. this spring.
After back-to-back road wins in Edmonton and Medicine Hat, Brandon (11-14-1) lost back-to-back home contests with the Regina Pats and Calgary Hitmen last weekend. The ICE (13-10-2) will have Peyton Krebs in the lineup for his first career battle of Manitoba, as he missed the teams’ three prior matchups as he continued rehab for his torn Achilles tendon. Puck drop is set for 7:30 PM for both Friday and Saturday in Brandon and Winnipeg, respectively.
