It has been a phenomenal December for Winnipeg Blues’ forward Mikol Sartor. Through nine December Manitoba Junior Hockey League games, the 18-year-old Winnipegger has seven goals and 17 points, while collecting points in each and every game.
After being recognized by the league as one of its Three Stars of the Week for the week of December 7-15, Sartor has followed that performance up with a second ‘Three Stars’ honour for the week spanning December 16 through 22.
Although only skating in three games, the league’s second-highest point scorer put up three goals and seven points, while collecting two power play goals for the Blues in the process, adding to his 15 power play points on the season. With league play currently suspended due to the holiday break, Sartor sits second in MJHL scoring with 19 goals, 50 points and 16 penalty minutes in just 37 games played.
League points scoring leader Grady Hobbs (51 points) and rookie netminder for the Virden Oil Capitals Kyle Kozma also received recognition as the other two Stars of the Week. Hobbs, who has 25 goals and 51 points for Dauphin, earned three goals and five points for the Kings in three games. Kozma collected back-to-back 18-save victories over Neepawa, in which he allowed just one goal against each game.
