The Winnipeg Jets will be sending both forward Mark Scheifele and goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to the 2020 NHL All-Star Weekend in St. Louis, MI. in late January.
Early this week the league announced which players would be representing each of its four divisions, with Winnipeg having Scheifele and Hellebuyck as its chosen delegates. The 2020 All-Star Weekend will be held at Enterprise Center from January 24-25.
2020 will be Hellebuyck’s second All-Star Game appearance, as he represented Winnipeg in Tampa Bay during the 2018 All-Star Game. Hellebuyck, 26, leads the league with three shutouts this season, while currently sitting third in wins with 17. He owns a 17-11-3 record with a 2.55 goals against average and a .923 goals against average through 30 starts.
For Scheifele, it will also be the 26-year-old’s second All-Star Game appearance, as he suited up alongside Blake Wheeler last season in San Jose. After posting his third-consecutive point-per-game season in 2018-19, the seventh-year Jet has continued his red-hot pace to begin the 2019-20 season, putting up 17 goals and 40 points in 39 games.
Winnipeg’s Patrik Laine will also have the opportunity to be voted into the annual weekend of fun, as the ‘Last Man Standing’ fan voting experience opens Wednesday and runs through Friday, January 10. This will allow Laine – amongst a group of 30 other players – to be voted in as one of four remaining players to be elected as an All-Star. The player from each division with the highest number of votes will be added to the All-Star roster.
Joining Hellebuyck and Scheifele in St. Louis on the Central Division team will be Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon, Minnesota’s Eric Staal, Chicago’s Patrick Kane, Nashville’s Roman Josi, Dallas’ Tyler Seguin, as well as St. Louis’ Ryan O’Reilly, Alex Pietrangelo and Jordan Binnington.
