The Manitoba Junior Hockey League has announced its Three Stars of the Week for the week spanning January 20-26, 2020. Headlining the list is Portage Terriers forward Joey Moffatt, Virden Oil Capitals forward Kolton Kanaski, and Swan Valley Stampeders forward Luke Beerman.
The three offensive talents provided a combined seven goals and 14 points in just seven total games this past week, helping each of their respective teams to strong outings. The MJHL recognizes its top-three performers weekly during the duration of the season.
Moffat, an 18-year-old third year Terrier, collected a goal and two assists at home against Swan Valley on Thursday, before adding another three assists the following day in a second-straight Portage win as the Dauphin Kings made a visit to Stride Place.
Kanaski, a 20-year-old fourth-year Oil Capital, scored once and added an assist on Friday in Virden’s 4-2 win over the Neepawa Natives, before potting two goals Sunday on the road in Winkler as the Oil Caps beat up the Flyers 5-3 at the Rec Complex.
Beerman, an 18-year-old first-year Stampeders forward put up two assists in Portage on Thursday, before collecting another two helpers in a 5-2 win over the Kings in Dauphin on Saturday. He continues to lead all MJHL rookies with 14 goals and 44 points on the season.
