Winnipeg Kyle Connor has been named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week for the set of seven days spanning February 2-9, 2020. The 23-year-old Michigan product had three goals and eight points in four games, despite going pointless in his first contest of the week.
After failing to register a point in the Jets’ 2-1 loss to Nashville in overtime last Tuesday, Connor collect just one assist Thursday evening in St. Louis. But it was once the team returned home to Bell MTS Place where he really excelled.
On Saturday, Winnipeg’s leading point-getter added a goal and three assists in a four-point night as the Jets defeated the Ottawa Senators 5-2, before putting up another three points the following day in Winnipeg’s second-straight 5-2 win – this time over Central Division rival Chicago.
Connor has now been recognized three times in his career by the NHL as a ‘Star of the Week’, with this announcement being just the second of the season by any Jet. His 28 goals, 59 points, seven power play goals, six game-winning goals and one shorthanded goal lead all Winnipeg players.
The Jets are back in action Tuesday evening as Jacob Trouba and the New York Rangers travel to Winnipeg for a inter-conference battle. The Jets will wear their Heritage Blue sweaters for Tuesday’s 7:00 PM central showdown. The game will be viewable on TSN.
