Bucci Named February’s MMJHL Player of the Month

Third-year Asper School of Business student Jared Bucci of the Fort Garry/Fort Rouge Twins has been named the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League’s Player of the Month for February/March.

Bucci, who has had an outstanding season for a playoff-bound hockey team, had six goals and 27 points in 11 games to lead the Twins to a 6-5-0 record.

Bucci led the Twins in scoring this season with 28 goals and 74 points in all 42 games. He had two power play goals, two shorthanded goals and four game-winning goals.

Bucci put up solid numbers last season, his second with the Twins, scoring 20 goHals and 43 points in just 35 games. This year, however, he was one of the top players in the entire league. e finished second in scoring to the Twisters Elijah Carels and was fifth in goals scored.

Bucci, a former high school star, won the WHSHL scoring title when he played with the Vincent Massey Trojans.

Meanwhile, Curtis Beck of the Stonewall Jets was named Top Goaltender for February/March. In seven games, he played 384 minutes, had 191 saves and a shutout as he finished the month with a record of 4-1-1-1. He had a goals against average of 1.88 and a save percentage of .937.

Troy Earl of the St. Vital Victorias was the Defensemen of the Month. Earl had two goal and 14 points in 14 games.

Nico Vigier of the Pembina Valley Twisters was the Investor’s Group Rookie of the Month. He had eight points on eight assists in 11 games.
