The Manitoba U-18 AAA return to play strategy has officially been approved by Hockey Manitoba’s governing bodies, marking the start of camps and the imminent beginning of the 2020-21 regular season – albeit a shortened season.
That said, many teams are scrambling to put all the required pieces in place in order to have a successful hockey year. One team in need of assistance is northwestern Ontario’s Kenora Thistles. The club is in desperate need of billet families for the 2020-21 season.
Those living near the Kenora region are asked to consider hosting out-of-town players as chaperones for the hockey season. Duties include providing food, water, shelter, a personal connection and a support system for these players travelling to Kenora for the year.
If interested in serving as a billet parent/family, the Thistles are asking you to reach out to the team via email (U18Thistles@Gmail.Com) or by phone (807-466-1032). Kenora will host its selection camp this Saturday and Sunday.
With it being a modified 36-game schedule beginning on October 16, teams within the U-18 AAA league will be divided into three divisions following the Prairie Mountain, Southern, Interlake-Eastman, Winnipeg and Northwestern Ontario Health Regions.
