Patrik Laine and Sasha Barkov went at it again. In what has become a yearly tradition, the two Finns teamed up for charity, at the Laine & Barkov Charity Golf event last weekend. In raising €69,900, the duo narrowly outdid their efforts in 2019 by €3K.
Originally scheduled for July 25, the second running of the event was bumped back to Saturday, September 26, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Pushing the event back allowed for more participants to sign up and participate, as well as have more items collected as raffle prizes. Amongst the prizes were game-used equipment, signed sweaters, sticks and much more.
A crisp 18-degree day at Nokia River Golf Course welcomed Laine and Barkov into a ‘friendly and relaxed day of golf’. Fellow NHL stars Teuvo Teravainen and Sami Vatanen also participated with their fellow countrymen.
In all, €69,900, or $109,000 Canadian dollars was raised through the event, which went to the Tampere’s development fund for those with cognitive intellectual disabilities.
