Former Winnipeg Hockey Coach Arrested for Various Sex Crimes

Winnipeg Police have arrested a 57-year-old male in connection with a number of sexual assaults dating back to the 1990s.

Robert ‘Bob’ Dawson was taken into police custody from his home on the 100-block of Lake Park Drive Thursday afternoon after two witnesses came forward with details stemming from various assaults suffered from 1993-95. These occurrences happened while the two men were teenagers playing hockey within the Assiniboine Park Hockey Association.

The victims told police that they were separately invited to Dawson’s home where he would provide them with money, alcohol and then videotape the subjects being sexually assaulted.

Winnipeg Police entered Dawson’s home on a search warrant and charged the now 57-year-old with with two counts of sexual interference, two counts of sexual exploitation, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of forcible confinement, and a number of child pornography offences.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone who has information or wants to speak to investigators is asked to call the Sex Crimes Unit at 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
