The Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League is gearing up for its 2021-22 preseason, set to begin on Friday, September 10. In advance of exhibition play, each of its 10 member teams will open training camp in the coming week.

With a new season comes new opportunity. Despite most teams already hosting a full staff, three clubs – the River East Royal Knights, the Fort Garry/Fort Rouge Twins and the St. Vital Vics – are in need of training/equipment staff for the coming year.

The Royal Knights are looking for an Equipment Manager and an Athletic Therapist/Trainer for the 2021-22 season. Those interested in applying for the open positions should reach out to River East general manager Barry Bonni via or 204-228-9475.

Much like the Royal Knights, the Vics are in need of both an Equipment Manager as well as an Athletic Therapist. Those interested in applying for either position are asked to contact St. Vital general manager Perry Mohr at or 204-771-5066.

The Twins are in need of a trainer for the 2021-22 season. Interested parties should contact with information and a resume attached.

Candidates looking to work as therapists/trainers are expected to be available to attend all games/practices and will deal with injury assessment and rehab, first aid care, concussion assessment and management, running a light dynamic warm-up before games, and management of the medical supplies.

Equipment managers are in charge of game day dressing room and bench preparation, equipment preparation for travel and delivery to away games, equipment and sweater repairs, inventory control of sweaters, socks, tape etc. and laundry duties.

MMJHL camps open league-wide on Tuesday, September 7. The preseason begins on September 10, while regular season games officially get underway on October 13.
