Jets Trim Roster, Eleven Sent Packing

The Winnipeg Jets have announced an update to the team’s training camp roster for the remainder of the 2021 preseason. Going 1-2-1 through four exhibition games, the team will look a little less American Hockey League-esque, and a bit more like the every day Jets roster.

Making 11 cuts, Winnipeg sent eight players directly to their AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose, while three players were placed on mandatory Waivers for the purpose to being sent to the minors. All nine skaters saw preseason action, while one of two netminders suited up as a starter in exhibition play.

Players sent to Manitoba:

G – Mikhail Berdin
G – Arvid Holm
D – Declan Chisholm
D – Leon Gawanke
D – Simon Lundmark
D – Johnathan Kovacevic
F – Jeff Malott
F – Kristian Reichel

Players placed on Waivers en route to Manitoba: 

F – Mikey Eyssimont
F – Luke Johnson
F – Austin Poganski

Winnipeg now has 28 players remaining in training camp, including four injured players, Dylan Samberg, CJ Suess, Nelson Nogier and Logan Stanley.

Players currently remaining with the Winnipeg Jets:

Goaltenders: Eric Comrie, Connor Hellebuyck

Defencemen: Dylan DeMelo, Ville Heinola, Josh Morrissey, Logan Stanley, Neal Pionk, Dylan Samberg, Brenden Dillon, Nathan Beaulieu, Nelson Nogier and Nate Schmidt.

Forwards: Andrew Copp, Riley Nash, Dominic Toninato, Nikolaj Ehlers, Jansen Harkins, Adam Lowry, David Gustafsson, Paul Stastny, Blake Wheeler, Mark Scheifele, Evgeny Svechnikov, Kyle Connor, Cole Perfetti, CJ Suess, Pierre-Luc Dubois, David Gustafsson and Kristian Vesalainen.

Winnipeg will begin a home-and-home mini-series with the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night from Canada Life Centre, before travelling to Alberta to close out the preseason on Friday. Both games will be available to view on TSN, with Wednesday’s contest beginning at 7:00 PM central, and Friday’s opening face-off coming at 8:00 PM.
