The Midland University Warriors have announced the commitment of two current members of the provincial U-18 AAA’s Central Plains Capitals for the 2022-23 hockey season.
Third-year forwards Taylor Bell and Brynn Tosh have accepted offers to join the Warriors while attending school in Fremont, Nebraska beginning next fall. Having just begun the 2021-22 MFHL season, the Capitals’ dynamic offensive duo will now be able to turn their full attention to season ahead, rather than recruitment options during signing season.
The two forwards have spent the past few years suiting up alongside one another with Central Plains, combining for many tallies, while helping their team to a winning record.
“Taylor is a very skilled forward who sees the ice well and can create a lot of offensive opportunities,” said Midland head coach Jason White. “She is the captain of her team this year and a natural leader who has speed and great hockey sense; she will have an immediate impact in our program.”
Bell, a product of Brandon, has yet to decide on her university major, but is leaning towards nursing or physiotherapy. Tosh, who lives in Souris, is looking forward to studying education at the university level, in hopes of becoming a teacher.
“Brynn is a strong forward that can play both ends of the ice,” White added. “Her size and speed combined with her natural hockey ability make her an immediate threat in the ACHA. She has a high compete level and leadership qualities that make her a perfect fit for our program.”
Through 54 games, Bell has amassed seven goals and 18 points, while Tosh has scored 18 times and added 34 assists for 52 points in 95 career games.
“The MHFL and the Central Plains Capitals congratulate Brynn and Taylor on their outstanding accomplishments to date,” the MFHL commented. “We wish them all the best with their future academic and hockey endeavours at Midland University.”
