The Manitoba Women’s Junior Hockey League has opened registration for the 2022-23 hockey season, set to begin in early-fall.
Following the conclusion of the first full season in three attempts, the MWJHL – or Manitoba’s very best female junior hockey league – is back in full for another year of competitive, high-level, junior hockey for young women aged 18-21 that are continuing their education and workforce careers.
With roughy one game and one practice per week – with games only scheduled on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays – those with busy work/university schedules are typically able to make the ‘light’ hockey week work. The level of competition within the MWJHL ranges from continued U-18 AA through AAA and High School level of hockey.
Touted as ‘A League with a Difference’, the MWJHL’s objective is to “promote the growth of women’s hockey in Manitoba and to foster the development of competitive hockey while setting high standards of fair play and respect as outlined in the MWJHL mission statement.”
This season, the MWJHL will be hosting three pre-tryout skates for players wanting to hit the ice early and in advance of the selection process. There are two groups with times offered at either 6:10 PM or 7:20 PM.
The cost of these skates is $60 – payable by E-Transfer to LMBenson@MyMTS.Net, while each skate will be held at the IcePlex. Players are asked to arrive 45 minutes in advance of their icetime. Only the first 34 skaters and six goaltenders that have paid will be guaranteed their placement in these sessions.

All registered players must attend tryouts in order to be eligible for the coming season – veterans included. First-year rookies are required to pay a $100 non-refundable deposit in advance of their first session, which goes towards their annual fee.
“Each player registered by August 15, 2022 will receive a letter with all pertinent information about fees and tryouts sent to the address given on the registration form. Late registrants will have letters sent to the email address given. Special information for rookies is included.”
