The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, have announced their 2022-23 regular season schedule.
Featuring 72 games, the team will open its year at home against the newly-rebranded Rockford IceHogs. The club will play out the final home game of the season at Canada Life Centre, on April 7 against the Grand Rapids Griffins, before ending on the road in Chicago on April 16.
Manitoba will only play 11 different teams this year, which includes that of the recently-relocated Stockton Heat club that is now playing out of Calgary, permanently. The Moose will play Calgary four times, much like that of the Belleville Senators, Laval Rocket and Toronto Marlies, while also eight games against the Abbotsford Canucks to close out their 24 games against Canadian competition.
The remaining 48 contests will be against just six American clubs: Rockford, Chicago, Milwaukee, Iowa, Texas and Grand Rapids.
27 of the 36 home games come on weekends or holidays, with 17 such games featuring afternoon start times.
Theme nights, giveaways or community initiatives make up 24 of the home dates, which will be recognized with a specialty jersey, a giveaway, a fundraiser or theme for fans to follow. The nine giveaways are highlighted by the Soccer Game (Nov. 11), the return of the perogy giveaway for Manitoba Made Day (Dec. 3), a hat giveaway on 2000s Day (Jan. 21), two mini bobblehead games (Jan. 22 and Feb. 19) and more.
