Brenden Dillon

We’re calling the Jets’ acquisition of the former Washington Capitals defenceman possibly one of the best deals Kevin Cheveldayoff has ever made. Dillon’s the veteran on the Jets’ blue line and he’s got proud memories of his 2018 run to the Stanley Cup. Dillon’s revved up and ready to lead the charge to Lord Stanley in the next playoffs!

Paul Stastny

There’s no place like home, and for Paul Stastny, it was all about a silver stick rather than ruby slippers. The stick was presented to Stastny during a special ceremony prior to a Jets game to mark his milestone of 1,000 career games. Stastny called the moment a “memorable tear-jerker” and says that he just wants to be a good hockey player. Whether he stays in Winnipeg or moves on, he says his heart is always in the game, and he’s “enjoying the ride.”

Pierre-Luc Dubois

Pierre-Luc Dubois is the Jets’ new jack of all trades. PLD followed his dad’s advice to learn to play all three forward positions because then it would be easy for the coach to put him in the lineup. Dubois modestly describes himself as a forward, a two-way centre who plays well defensively and offensively and who blocks shots, hits, scores and passes. He wants “to be the guy that does everything out there” and with that kind of versatility, he’ll be key to making the Jets’ playoff run a long and exciting one.

Connor Hellebuyck

What better way to start a new season — we hope — than with a major NHL trophy in hand? With Connor Hellebuyck winning the Vezina Trophy, emblematic of the best goaltender in the game, the Jets have a terrific advantage heading into the season — whenever it starts. Stanley Cup playoffs, anybody? OK, maybe it’s too early for that kind of prediction, but any team that the Jets play will face one fierce puck stopper protecting the goal.

The phrase “the greatest of them all” often sounds like hyperbole. But not when it applies to Dale Hawerchuk. “Ducky” truly was the greatest of them all. His iconic record on the ice speaks for itself. And his importance to the Winnipeg Jets, their growth and their history, goes so deep that the team is truly his legacy. So it’s only right that he should be honoured and remembered with a statue in front of Bell MTS Place.
